While these days, limewash is primarily used for outdoor painting, it has a long tradition of being
used for finishing both the outside and inside walls of historic buildings. Considering such diverse uses of limewash paint, maybe it’s high time you’ve learned a thing or two about it?
As professional painters and decorators, we are not afraid to undertake even the most luxury and spectacular decorating projects, and when it comes to luxury buildings, there aren’t many places which could challenge Belgravia. This time, we’d like to tell you more about a particular apartment in Belgravia which we’ve had the pleasure to paint and decorate.
Painting and plastering of a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in Belgravia
We always approach every project individually, no matter the scope of work and the details of the work that has to be done. However, some projects are obviously more challenging than others. When we are hired as painters in Belgravia or decorators on Belgravia, we know what to expect – buildings and apartments which can rival the most lavish hotels of Europe. This time, it was no different.
The bulk of work was already done, as the general contractor already performed a renovation. What was left for us to do was painting, decorating and plastering. We aimed to paint the walls, decorate the apartment and finish it in state-of-the-art standard, with the use of high-end materials and techniques – and that’s what we specialise in.
Our work started with corner alignment and smoothing of the walls. We made sure to focus especially on the smoothing – we are proud of what we’ve managed to achieve, with absolutely no waves or other kind of surface unevenness – the final effect was that even under a strong, focused light, there was not a spot uneven. The plastering which we’ve performed is characterised with exceptional strength and quality, is amazingly smooth.
This attention to quality and detail allowed us to then paint the apartment to an outstanding result, where every wall looks like an infinitely smooth surface, without a single smudge. Naturally, the paint which was chosen for this project was of the highest quality.
If you would like to learn more about how we approach smoothing, plastering and painting the walls, we will cover that in a separate article. Click here if you would like to learn more about our residential painting and decorating.
Decorators on Belgravia – how did we approach it?
Once the walls were smoothened out, plastered and painted to the best possible result, it was time to get to decorating this apartment in Belgravia. This particular house was very contemporary, even modern, with a luxury touch to it. The goal was to upkeep the sense of luxury while keeping it all in good taste, appropriately for Belgravia.
The design chosen for this apartment was very bold, with strong, vibrant colours introduced through the use of paint of the highest quality. This would not only allow to achieve the required style of interior design but also ensure the longevity of the whole work.
Wooden elements of interior design were painted in dark, elegant colours which added a touch of luxury while also providing a very tasteful contrast to the rest of the design. Our designer was particularly proud of the combination of colours – combining strong, contrasting colours leads to spectacular effects, but at the same time requires a lot of skill and talent from the painters and decorators. We did mention already that we love such demanding projects, so it was something that we attempted with readiness and joy.
Residential projects are very close to our heart, as we want to make sure that our clients and customers have nothing but the best memories of their cooperation with us as their painters and decorators – and what reminds them better of our skill than an artfully designed apartment? While many home-grown renovators look at painting as simple and easy enough to skip
hiring a contractor and do on their own, there’s actually a lot to consider when preparing for
a painting project.
