When a Roof Renovation Became an Opportunity to Refresh the Entire Façade
During a roof renovation of an elegant townhouse in London’s Belgravia, Eaton Gate – the company overseeing the project – approached us with a simple but important question: “While you’re here, could you also refresh the façade?”
The building – a beautiful, classical townhouse listed as Grade II – required a particularly sensitive approach. This wasn’t just about painting. It was about respecting the architecture, the materials, and the history of the place.

What Grade II Means – Working Under the Watchful Eye of Tradition
Working on a Grade II listed property isn’t just about aesthetics – it also involves complying with conservation regulations and handling every step with care. Every detail – from the cornices to the window frames – must be approached with an understanding of its value. In these cases, the experience of our External Painting team is essential. We know our work must not only improve the building’s appearance but preserve its integrity for decades to
come.
A Carefully Planned and Delicately Executed Process
The first step was thorough surface preparation – including both the façade and architectural details, as well as timber window elements. The work required particular caution, especially since part of it extended into the interior – for example, when protecting windows from dust and debris from the inside.
We don’t use generic fillers or plasters – in areas prone to cracking, we apply specialist epoxy and polymer resins that ensure flexibility and long-term durability. The same approach was taken with the windows: they were first stripped and cleaned, then repaired using resin systems, protected from further damage, and finally repainted to retain their original proportions and character.
Premium Materials and Lasting Systems
After completing all repairs, every surface was prepared for painting in accordance with best practices. We used proven, high-quality painting systems designed to withstand changing weather conditions. Everything was done with durability in mind – not just short-term appearance.
We also painted some of the elements on the roof that had been previously repaired by the construction company, ensuring a consistent and aesthetically cohesive finish throughout.

The Result? Exactly What Was Expected – Or Even More
The project was carried out smoothly and without disruption. Thanks to thorough planning and clear communication with the client, the process was efficient and on time. The building owner was pleased not only with the visual result – they especially appreciated the quality of materials, the precision of our work, and the protection of interior spaces during the process.
Client Satisfaction and Future Cooperation
The project was completed on time and met all expectations. The client expressed satisfaction with both the execution and final outcome, which has opened the door to further collaborations.
External Painting Is More Than Just Painting
This project shows that external painting is an art, not just a technique. When we work on a historic building, every decision – every brushstroke – matters. At IGNAS, we know how to combine craftsmanship with artistic sensitivity and a professional approach.
If you’re looking for a team that respects the heritage of a building and gives it a renewed glow – we’re ready to get to work.
