Sketch – a living work of art in the heart of London
Sketch is not just a restaurant – it’s one of London’s most imaginative and recognisable venues. A fusion of art gallery and fine dining experience, every room at Sketch is a curated space, created by renowned artists and designers. The main dining hall, with its soaring dome nearly 11 metres high, was ready for a bold new identity. At the request of a top interior designer, the vision was a full transformation into a deep, custom-designed pink space that would be unforgettable yet true to the Sketch spirit.
Nine days to transform a landmark space? Challenge accepted
The brief was tight: complete the project in just nine working days. Our scope covered the preparation and repainting of all surfaces – walls, ceilings, and ornate architectural details – in a space with active renovation works taking place in parallel. Timing, coordination, and quality had to be perfect.
Shift work, project management and seamless execution
We assigned a 10-person team working in day and night shifts, overseen by an on-site project manager from start to finish. Our first step was protecting all non-painted surfaces – furniture, floors, fixtures, and decorative elements – using high-grade protective materials.
We then began preparing the surfaces for painting. Previous coatings were carefully sanded down using large-scale industrial sanders. In many areas, we smoothed and levelled surfaces to create an ideal texture for the new finish. This meticulous preparation ensured that the bold pink paint would adhere evenly and achieve the designer’s intended effect.
Spray painting with Graco technology –achieving precision at scale
Given the scale and complexity of the space, we used mobile access towers and Graco spray equipment to reach and cover the upper walls and high ceiling areas. This allowed for precise, even coverage across challenging architectural surfaces.
The selected paint was a bespoke pink shade, approved by the interior designer and chosen specifically to reflect the character of Sketch. The formulation offered rich texture and long-lasting colour depth – key qualities for a venue that receives hundreds of visitors daily.
To maintain our exacting standards throughout the process, we used focused lighting to identify and correct even the smallest surface imperfections during both preparation and application. Each team member was responsible for a defined section of the space, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all shifts.

The end result surpassed the client’s expectations. The main dining room was reborn in a stunning pink – striking yet elegant, completely refreshed while remaining undeniably Sketch. We delivered the entire project on time and to the highest standard, once again demonstrating our ability as commercial decorators to combine creative vision with technical excellence, even under pressure.

Following the success of this transformation, we were invited back to Sketch to carry out additional touch-ups in the main hall and undertake further work across other areas of the restaurant.
