Commercial Painting near St. Paul’s – Night Works in a Live Office Building

Trust Built Over Years of Collaboration

When our long-term client, for whom we have delivered hundreds of painting projects across London office buildings, asked us to quote for painting two large staircases and the communal areas of a prominent office building near St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, we knew this would require more than just a steady painting hand.

The building houses prestigious firms, and its communal spaces – staircases and lobbies – are heavily trafficked. From the outset, the requirements were clear: total discretion, zero disruption to office operations, flawless organisation, and a perfect finish.

The trust our long-term client placed in us is the result of many years of successful cooperation and projects delivered together. For us, this was also a great responsibility – because when we work for a client like this, we know we are also helping build their reputation.

Thoughtful Planning Enables Silent Execution

The entire project logistics were planned well in advance:

  • work carried out exclusively at night and on weekends,
  • a rotating team of up to 8 decorators, with an experienced supervisor,
  • scheduled duration – 3 weeks,
  • after every shift – full clean-up and area protection

Our goal was simple: that building users would not notice our presence, and the only trace of our work would be the fresh, flawlessly finished result.

Technical Approach and Responsible Material Selection

We used fast-drying Dulux Trade paints, selected for their suitability for commercial interiors:

  • low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) – virtually odourless paints,
  • quick drying time,
  • durability and resistance to daily use.

This allowed us to work overnight and have the spaces ready for full use by morning – no smell, no disruption, no trace of ongoing work. The scope covered two tall, multi-storey staircases.

In addition to the staircases, the scope of work also included:

  • lobbies and shared corridors,
  • toilet areas and toilet lobbies,
  • shower rooms,
  • part of the reception,
  • and a staff kitchen.

Full Support for Facility Management

A key part of this project was taking the pressure off the building’s operational team. Working closely with our long-term client’s Operations Manager, Owen Parsons from Sespione Performed Association, we ensured he didn’t need to supervise – we took ownership of every detail: coordination, scheduling, protection, and communication.

Thanks to this, the client could rest easy, knowing IGNAS was fully in control and representing them with professionalism in front of building users.

The Result – Quiet, Clean, and Impeccable

The project was completed on schedule. All staircases and shared areas were refreshed to the highest standard. Every morning, the building was clean, accessible, and fully functional. Not once did the works interfere with daily operations.

This project confirms once again that Commercial Painting is not just about looks – it’s about trust, planning, and working smoothly in sensitive environments.

Client Testimonial

“We asked IGNAS to quote for repainting the common areas of a large office building in central London, the quote was produced quickly and detailed. The works were approved and the team were quick to organise dates for attendance even attending site to collect access fobs for weekend working.

Throughout the project IGNAS kept me up to date on the progress, the site was always left clean and tidy after each visit as the offices were in use during the day and their team worked during the nights and weekends.

The end result was fantastic, all the areas looked brand new and the site was left spotless – you wouldn’t have even known people had been in working. The landlord was extremely happy with the final result following a walk around to inspect the works. IGNAS are always very professional, polite and work to a very high standard – we always get great feedback from our clients.”
